4 Way Scrimmage
This years scrimmage was dominated by the Salamanca Warriors. Salamanca scored 18 times throughout the scrimmage, while, the combination of Dansville, Wellsville, and Pioneer only put up 2 scores against the Warriors. On the opening play of the scrimmage Salamanca's Derrick Murphy ran for a 65 yd. touchdown. Both Salamanca's running and passing attack executed very well throughout the day. Junior backup QB, Matt Shultz had a very productive day passing as he threw a pair of TD passes. Also, the Warriors defense had 5 interceptions on the day; Cameron Haines, Derrick Murphy, Dustin Ross, Aaron Hill, and Mike Liberatore each had one. The Warriors' offense and defense both look very solid, and we are awaiting the season opener this Saturday.
Salamanca Warriors and Gownda Panthers - Saturday, September 8, 2001
Salamanca upped their regular season unbeaten streak to 24 games when they beat the Gowanda Panthers 56 - 7. Junior running back, Mike Liberatore scored the first touchdown of the Warrior's season on a 26 yard pass from senior quarterback Cameron Haines. Dustin Ross lead all rushers with 174 yard on 19 carries and five touchdowns. Derrick Murphy and Mike Liberatore each averaged 4.5 yards per carry. In the third quarter, senior Spencer George returned a blocked punt five yards for the Warriors' sixth touchdown of the game. Andy McMillen , a former varsity soccer standout, added two extra-point kicks in the third quarter. Gowanda finally scored on the Warriors defense with a 75 yard touchdown late in the third quarter. The Warriors starting offensive line of Matt Quattrone, Chad DeBoy, Aaron DeBoy, Jordan Urbanski, Toimmi Hogan and Billy Crouse helped pave the way for the Salamanca backfield to gain 314 yards on the ground. Spencer George led the Warriors with four tackles and one assist.
Salamanca Warriors and Silver Creek Black Knights - Saturday, September 15, 2001
Three of the Warriors running backs finished the game with over 100 yards. Quarterback, Cameron Haines totaled 152 yards on nine carries which included a 56 yard touchdown. Senior back Derrick Murphy carried the ball 16 times for 150 yards while teammate, running back Dustin Ross had 118 yards on 15 carries. Junior Mike Liberatore averaged 7 yards per carry. Warriors are now 31-1 lifetime against Silver Creek. Aaron DeBoy recovered a fumble after Silver Creek's quarterback was sacked by Spencer George. Ross then scored his second touchdown on a two yard run. Ross totaled 4 touchdowns for the night. While once again, Andy McMillen followed them by kicking extra points. The Warrior's defense has allowed just seven points in two games. Again the Warriors' offensive line opened holes and had some great down field blocks in order for the Warrior running backs to total 443 rushing yards on the ground.

Andy McMillen's Field Goal Brings the Warriors to a 3-0 Season!
Junior Andy Mcmillen kicked a thrilling 23 yard field goal to win the game 19-18 with only 29 seconds left in the fourth quarter. The kick came after Salamanca was loosing by 10 points with nine minutes left on the clock. Scoring for the Warriors started late in the fourth quarter as Cameron Haines threw to Dustin Ross for a 35 yard touchdown. Salamanca's offense recorded 312 yards. Mike Liberatore added the two point conversion. A pass interference penalty against Portville gave Salamanca new hope. Andy McMillen then positioned himself for the kick and hit it right through the uprights. Coach Morton said, "This was the toughest game we have ever played." Haines totaled 71 yards on passing and rushing, while Murphy led the Warriors with 66 yards rushing. Aaron DeBoy and Jordan Urbanski had a solid game on the Offensive Line.
Salamanca Warriors and Cleveland Hill Golden Eagles - Saturday, September 29, 2001
The last time these two teams met each other was in November of 2000. Only that time, the Warriors lost 34-32 for the Class C Championship. On Saturday, the Warriors came away with a big win,
58-14. Early in the lst quarter Cleveland Hill scored, but the Warrior's defense was able to hold Cleveland Hill for three quarters. The Warriors scored 51 unanswered points. Coach Morton noticed that Cleveland Hill's defense focused on Dustin Ross so, the ball was given to Liberatore and Murphy. Coach Morton reported, "those two were all over the place." Aaron Hill made a catch on the halfback option pass from Derrick Murphy in the second quarter to set Salamanca up for a score. Quarterback, Matt Schultz threw a 46-yard pass to Dustin Ross. A total of 29 points were added in the third quarter. Liberatore, Ross, and Murphy each scored two touchdowns, while Haines scored one. Andy MCmillen kicked two extra points. Salamanca finished the game with 300 rushing yards, and 100 yards passing.
Salamanca Warriors and Cattaraugus/Little Valley - Saturday, October 6, 2001
This was the third game in a row that Salamanca had to come from behind to win. Matt Schultz started as quarterback and Cameron Haines started in the halfback position for Derrick Murphy who was out with an ankle injury. Cattaraugus/Little Valley scored early in the game. Salamanca did not score until the second half with a 63 yard run from Dustin Ross. Haines scored with 2 points that put Salamanca in the lead, 8 to 7. Ross scored again in the fourth quater and Haines, once again added two extra points. Dustin Ross added a total of 115 yards on 20 carries. Haines ran the ball eight times for 59 yards and Mike Liberatore carried the ball 3 times for 12 yards. The Warriors are now 5 - 0 and will play at Cassadaga Valley on Saturday, October 13th.

Early in the first quarter, Quarterback, Cameron Haines kept the ball and dashed for a 84 yard touchdown. Mike Liberatore followed with the two point conversion run. Once Cass. Valley had possession of the ball on its 20 yard line, it was intercepted by Derrick Murphy on a pass from Zach Kaus. Murphy then added a four play 35 yard drive and ended it with a touchdown. Liberatore once again added the two point conversion run. In the seconded quarter, Camerson Haines added another long run, 64 yards. Haines ran a total of nine times for 181 yards. Dustin Ross ran 15 times for 88 yards. Derrick Murphy ran nine times for 29 yards and Mike Liberatore ran six times for 16 yards. Coach Morton praised all of his players for being able to regroup after a difficult second quarter.
Salamanca Warriors and Falconer Falcons Saturday, October 20, 2001
The Warriors improved to a 5-0 in league play. Warriors running back Dustin Ross ran for 211 yards and four touchdowns. Ross now has 21 touchdowns and needs one more tie the current record.
Cameron Haines added 94 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Liberatore added two two-pont conversions and Murphy and Ross added one each. Salamanca's defense limited Falconer to 174 yards while the Warriors added up 370 yards on the ground. Murphy had caught two inception passes from Falconer's quarterback. Salamanca's unbeaten streak is now 30 games and have scored in 60 consecutive games.
Salamanca Warriors and Allegany Limestown Gators, Friday, October 26, 2001
Salamanca clinches Class C South title witha big win over Allegany/Limestown. Dustin Ross ran for 112 yards on 21 carries and scored two touchdowns to help the Warriors win 26-6 in Friday's game.
As snow covered the field, Coach Morton reported that these were the worst playing conditions he had ever had to deal with in a high school game. The win also moved the Warriors into their third undefeated regular season game. Salamanca will host Cleveland Hill on Saturday, November
3rd in the first round of playoffs.
